Designed and built the payment infrastructure behind CleanHaus's multi-vendor cleaning marketplace, moving hosts and cleaners off fragmented tools like Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle and into a controlled, Stripe Connect-powered payment workflow.
The Challenge
CleanHaus needed a marketplace payment system with complex, custom financial workflows. They wanted to avoid managing multiple gateways such as PayPal and Zelle while supporting card and ACH payments, cleaner onboarding, automated payouts, platform commissions, host subscriptions, and flexible refund and dispute workflows.
We designed and built the complete payment architecture around Stripe Connect, connecting CleanHaus's job approval workflow to payments and cleaner payouts. Connected cleaner accounts receive their share of completed jobs while CleanHaus's marketplace commission is handled automatically, with refund workflows built to correctly manage full refunds and negative-balance edge cases on connected accounts. ACH payments run alongside card transactions, idempotency checks prevent duplicate charges on retried requests, and Stripe webhooks keep payment, refund, payout, and transaction state reliably synchronized with the marketplace backend.
